    Highlights of the 2023 Edition

Throughout the 2023 edition of the NYC Apartment Management Checklist, the text of laws and forms relating to each chapter have been updated to reflect changes made since the last edition.  The new edition has been updated to reflect:

    1. New regulations to ban removal or swapping of backflow prevention devices without DEP approval.
    2. Proposed LL97 rules on how to calculate a building's energy use and emission limits, and how to offset emissions through renewable energy credits.
    3. New laws that define "self-closing doors," reduce time to correct related violations, and ban the sale of space heaters that lack thermostats.
    4. Proposed sanitation rules that would change the time that trash can be placed out for next-day pick up.
    5. New Fire Code provisions mandating that outdoor decorative installations be flame resistant.
    6. Amended law clarifying that co-ops can collect transfer fees and late fees for maintenance payments up to 8 percent if permitted in the building.
    7. A new state paint recycling program with drop-off sites for paints, stains, sealers, and varnishes.
    8. Repeal of NYC's rechargeable battery law.
